Why use a password manager

A strong, unique password for every service – without having to remember a single one.

Using the same password for several services is convenient – and dangerous. If one of them is hacked, attackers automatically try the credentials everywhere else.

What a password manager does

  • It creates a long, random password for every service.
  • It stores all passwords encrypted – you only remember one.
  • It fills in sign-ins automatically and spots fake sites while doing so.
  • In a team, access can be shared selectively instead of being sent by email.

What to watch out for

Protect the password manager itself with a long master password and two-factor sign-in, and plan how you’ll regain access in an emergency. For businesses, a solution with central management pays off – then access doesn’t leave the company with a person.

That’s exactly why the client area of our Security Gateway includes a shared password manager – with central management and your login.
